Kaepernick is by champion sire Fastnet Rock, out of the Stravinsky mare Volcada (NZ). He was offered at the Magic Millions sale in 2013 by Broadwater Thoroughbreds, where he was purchased for $400,000 by John O’Shea Racing. He is a winner of eight races, accumulating just over $700,000 prize money, including a place in Group 3 and Group 2. Kaepernick is raced by a syndicate including Pinecliff Racing and Bangaloe Stud.
